Acropolis Cultural Tour itinerary:
We start our meeting inside the Acropolis metro station exploring the daily life of Ancient Athens through the displays of artifacts and casts of the “Parthenon marbles”.
The majority of the subway stations in Athens have small exhibitions of archaeological artifacts that came to light during the construction of it.
Then we take a nice short walk in the pedestrian streets of Makrigianni and Dionysus Areopagitou, nearby Plaka and the new Acropolis Museum, meeting with the locals (washroom stop).
Athens Walking Guide enters Acropolis from the south slope to avoid the crowds. There we will rediscover the sanctuary of Dionysus, which the great writers Aeschylus, Euripides and Sophocles performed their dramatic plays back in the 5th century B.C.
In our way up to Acropolis, we are stopping under the shady place of Asclepius Sanctuary, adoring the breathtaking view of Athens and the Odeon of Herodes Atticus and the Philopappos monument.
Inside Acropolis, Athens Walking Guide will share his and your knowledge of Ancient Athens by fully commendation of the Propylaia, the “Nike” Temple, the Parthenon, the Erectheion, the Beule Gate, the Observatory, the Philopappos, the Mars and Pnyx Hills.
We will finish the tour in the viewpoint of Acropolis.
From that time you will be “emancipated” and have free time to explore the hill on your own (washroom also available).
Note: To run the tour we need a minimum capacity of 4 persons
Our group tour maximum is just 15 people per guide. Our average group size 8. That means you’re heard, not part of the herd.
